My Creative Learning Reflections Journal Zine
I made a physical zine, the biggest I’ve ever made for my Creative Learning Course (NCAD). It’s my reflection journal, I still don’t know if I made one correctly, but there was an option to submit a physical copy… so I did! My last hurrah as an art student. And here’s the digital version, enjoy!:
If you have problems viewing the zine, you can go directly to https://heyzine.com/flip-book/a5c963ac08.html.
As part of the short course, I created a couple of things on the side and included in the reflective journal:
I used Decker (which some folks have used for interactive digital zines) to create a little interactive story based on the object, a Nintendo Famicom cartidge, which embodied my creative journey. Note: That Decker is not mobile-friendly, view via laptop/desktop computer.
A mini-zine I created based on the reaction from one of the activities where we address and distill large issues to single words. Chanting them out loud during class, a very cathartic exercise which stuck with me leading me to design and make this mini-zine.
✂️ Cut & folded nearly 50 various zines tonight. I’ll be bringing nearly 90 zines of all shapes & sizes on topics including gamedev, tech, #Python & community groups to @ShipItCon & @DublinMaker next week.

Still new cricut user, and def first time cutting vinyl. Creating a label for the Coding Grace Zine Library. Made a mistake with initial try but got it right the second time. 🙌 Even re-used the cutout section in the back. 😎

Some of the zines that I’ve made and will be bringing to the Zine Workshop at Dublin Maker. You can find them in our zine library alongside other amazing techie/Maker zines I found.
Note: The Dublin Maker “Maker” zine is a special zine with pages contributed by some of this year’s Makers and will be given as a memento for taking part in this year’s Dublin Maker festival.

🔍 Other zine clubs/fests/fairs?
Is there a site that lists all the various zine clubs, fest and fairs around Ireland and Northern Ireland?
I keep coming across them via socmed, it would be great to find a hub of zine info. I keep missing all the info about their upcoming events!
Here are ones I found so far:
- Belfast Zine Fair: www.instagram.com/belfastzi…
- Cork Zine Festival: www.instagram.com/corkzinef…
- Drogheda Zine Fair: www.instagram.com/droghedaz…
- Limerick Zine Fest: www.instagram.com/limerickz…

New zine created - Dublin Maker Zine
Created a zine for Dublin Maker, you can check it below:
If you have problems seeing it, you can access it via https://whykay.itch.io/dublin-maker-zine
I’m applying to run a zine workshop at Dublin Maker this year, if I do get approved, it will be
- 1 hour workshop
- Suitable for all ages
- Makers create a 1-page mini-zine on any topic they like
- We take pics of their zine, and the Makers can take their awesome creations home
- After Dublin Maker, we will pull all the zines made on the day and create one big zine from it all.
- The mega zine will be in physical (to showcase, share and swap) and digital format (for all to read and enjoy!)
I’ve been making lots of mini-zines and trying other techniques. This one tool is very handy for auto-arranging your mini-zine, quarter or half-sized zines in A4 or letter format: https://nashhigh.itch.io/zinearranger

It's International Zine Month 2025!
Here’s a nice video of what to expect for International Zine Month whether if you are new to zines or just love making zines.
You can find the the prompts for #IZM2025 (if you want to know the hash-tag to check for posts in socmed, or for your own posts!) at https://stolensharpierevolution.org/international-zine-month
“1 – Make a 1 page zine! Don’t know what to write about? Make it a zine about why you like zines!”
I’m still on prompt 1 making a new mini-zine! 😅

There’s been problems with the micro blog posts and I had to remove almost all the posts except the first one. So I’ll try and add them back in one by one as I’m not risking reimporting which might raise errors again and break the build and site. So let’s try again.
